(Sept. 22) Over 350 CORVETTES will roll into Ocean City on Sunday. The huge show will include all Corvette models ever produced. The Boardwalk Corvette Club reports the display will stretch from 5th to 14th Streets on the boardwalk. The exhibit is scheduled from 11a.m. to 4 p.m. No bikes will be permitted in the area during this time.
The Sunday event provides a unique opportunity to see the 1960 Le Mans Corvette on display prior to the movie premier. It will be parked in front of the Music Pier at 5 p.m. followed by the Quest film at 6 p.m. There will be a meet and greet with the filmmakers at 7:45 p.m. Tickets are $20. All proceeds benefit the Chip Miller charitable foundation.
Corvette enthusiast Corey Korpita will create two sand sculptures of Corvettes during the afternoon on the beach opposite the Music Pier.
(Sept. 20) The Cape May County American Legion Posts will conduct the POW/MIA Recognition Day Ceremony on Friday, September 20, 2013 to ensure that those courageous Americans, who gave their lives to preserving and protecting our freedom, will never be forgotten. The Ceremony will begin at 11:00 a.m. at the Veteran's Memorial located at the Ocean View Service Area on the Garden State Parkway (mile marker 18.3). All members of the community, especially veterans, are encouraged to attend.
(Sept. 21) WALK to Defeat ALS. Registration begins 9 a.m. at the 6 th St. Practice Field, next to the Sports and Civic Center. The two mile walk raises funds to support patient services and research into finding a cure for Lou Gehrig's disease. Check in at Ocean City Music Pier, Boardwalk and Moorlyn Terrace, for clean up supplies. All organizations and families are encouraged to participate in this annual event to keep our beaches and bay clean and safe and to protect the coastal environment. (Sept. 22) The Ocean City Environmental Commission is hosting a Bay Clean Up from noon to 2 p.m. at the Tennessee Ave. Boat Ramp. Residents, visitors and groups are encouraged to bring their Kayaks and canoes.
The Environmental Commission asks volunteers to meet in the boat ramp parking area at 11:45 a.m. The Commission will provide work gloves and bags. Volunteers must be 18 years of age or older and a waiver form must be signed. For more information, contact City Hall at (609) 399-6111 ext. 9285.
