Ocean City will celebrate Thanksgiving twice this year. Later in November but first on Saturday, August 24 when it will treat its loyal vacationers to an evening of entertainment capped by a gigantic fireworks display.

The celebration will begin at 7:30 p.m. in front of the Music Pier with a program of non-denominational "prayer and song" by local clergy and area choirs. At 8 p.m. we will present entertainment throughout the Boardwalk featuring bands, strolling entertainers and costumed characters. At 10 p.m. there will be a huge fireworks display ignited from a barge in the ocean plainly visible from the Boardwalk. Rain date for the celebration is August 25. (July 27) The popular Jersey Shore ARTISANS GUILD CRAFT SHOW attracts hundreds of visitors to Ocean City. Created by City residents, JoAnne and Norman Schaut, all proceeds from the event are donated to local charities.  The one-day show features outstanding crafters, photographers, artists and gourmet food specialists. It will be held at Carey Stadium field and inside the Sports and Civic Center, 6th St. off Boardwalk.
 
 Featured artist is Diana Hydock of Freeland, Pa. who specializes in contemporary mixed media, framed collages, clay, paper and Garden Sculptures. Her subjects include shore scenes, animals and flowers.
 
Visitors will also find unusual crafts such as matching girl and doll dresses, shell art, hand crafted wood/rope chairs, handmade concrete items such as bird baths and benches and beaded wired glass and metal serving pieces.  Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday. (July 25) Another event that will support local charities is the Ocean City FISHING PIER'S second of three Open Houses set for 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday. This Ocean City institution is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year and is generating a lot of positive publicity for Ocean City, most recently in last Sunday's Philadelphia Inquirer that ran an informative feature story on the Pier.

Children from 3rd to 8th grade will have the opportunity to build their own puppets that will be featured in a special performance.
